Putting the ‘fun’ in Non-Fungible Tokens

Has there been another product, digital or otherwise, to stir up more controversy than NFTs? The most recent spate of news came from the makers of “Bored Ape,” as many are upset celebrities including Jimmy Fallon and Snoop Dogg were paid to promote their collections and said payments weren’t disclosed.

Then of course you have the myriad of stories retelling how people paid ungodly sums for “works of art,” only for the six-figure (and sometimes more) valuations dropping to, well, practically zero.

We could go on and on about the perils and pitfalls of the NFT market. And that’s a shame, because this technology offers so many benefits to consumers. Not to mention, they’ve created a multitude of opportunities (and protection) for creators.

In Anime Village’s case, as the title of this blog suggests, NFTs can also be a whole lot of fun! And that’s a good thing, especially if you’re an Anime, Manga or gaming fan.

It’s all about the utility, baby.

Well, perhaps not ‘all.’ But the utility of NFTs, or their functionality, is what makes them so appealing. When it came time for us to develop our series, we wanted to check the following boxes: 1) The artwork must be impeccable and represent our original characters in the best light; 2) They have to be unique and add something to the overall Metaverse experience and; 3) They must provide added value in the form of utility.

So, for our first series of NFTs, the “Tetsu” Collection, we feature the main character from our Manga Adamanto, Shin’ichi Tanso, in a series of traditional and customized samurai armors. Aside from their amazing aesthetic, each NFT is offered as an Avatar to explore our Metaverse. When you purchase Shin’ichi decked out in his “Kobaruto” armor, you’ll receive a 1-of-1 Avatar adorned in the very same gear.

There are two Clans and 10 individual armors to pick from, and we’ll be launching more to populate the four other Clans that comprise the entire collection in the coming months.

armors, all available as 1-of-1 Avatars to explore our Metaverse in style.

Up next…

The “Tetsu” Collection will be followed up by our “Gaido” Collection, which puts a spotlight on our Metaverse guide, Suki. She’s displayed in a vibrant range of backgrounds to denote her mood, and like “Tetsu,” there’s a cool utility built into this series as well — when you buy a “Gaido” NFT, you’ll get an annual virtual keepsake. These will range from discounts, exclusive virtual merch and other Anime Village-related swag to keep the good times rolling. You’ll receive this yearly ‘thanks’ for as long as you choose to hold the NFT. That’s what we mean by value.

Lots more to come!

There’s tons going on here at Anime Village in the coming months: the pre-sale of Village 555 land parcels, NFT series, the release of our original Manga, Adamanto, Chapter I and multi-player demo of our Metaverse.
